The May vigil, presided over by Bishop Antonio Napolioni, is described as being for the overcoming of discrimination, particularly "homophobia" and "transphobia". According to the diocese, the initiatives aim to “help” homosexuals to feel more included in the Church. The announcement also references a 2025 synodal document by the Italian Bishops’ Conference, which encourages local Churches to promote homosexualism.
