Rev. Alfons Gea, a Catalan priest and cousin of Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, has appeared to confirm the sexual nature of allegations against the 74-year-old Archbishop of Rabat, Morocco. First Canadian Town Grants Trees a 'Right to Life': On 9 June, the town of Terrasse-Vaudreuil in Quebec, home to around 2,000 people, became the first place in Canada to adopt a resolution enshrining the 'rights' of trees. The resolution includes rights such as the right to life, natural growth, integrity and regeneration. Mayor Michel Bourdeau said the initiative was inspired by filmmaker André Desrochers and his film 'Des arbres et des arts'. Meanwhile, around 30,000 human beings are aborted in Quebec each year, and more than 100,000 in Canada as a whole. Spanish Priest Sentenced to 52 Years for Sexually Assaulting Four Women: A court in Málaga, Spain, has sentenced Catholic priest "Father Fran" to 52 years in prison for drugging and sexually assaulting four women between 2014 and 2018, including three rapes. Man Arrested Over Attempted Theft of St. Januarius' Mitre: A 43-year-old foreign national was arrested on Wednesday after attempting to steal the ceremonial mitre from the reliquary bust of St. Januarius inside Naples Cathedral.
