The University of Notre Dame's McGrath Institute for Church Life has published on July 17 a report containing twelve proposals for assessing candidates for the priesthood. The report draws on research commissioned from the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) and a consultation held at Notre Dame in September 2025. The proposals concern psychological assessment, candidates with particular psychological or developmental conditions, and formation for chastity and celibacy.
